I've done little else but work on this for the last few days, and the strain is definitely showing. I also made a countdown timer to help with the time conversion for the deadline, and got the habit of checking up on it. I occasionally screamed at it, but it didn't seem to help. I think it's safe to say I do not work well under pressure.
A thank you is in order to all those that responded to my WIP. He still isn't focusing properly I fear, but maybe he's an absentminded dreamer like myself ;)

:bulletblue: My many Dreams :bulletblue:
My head is crowded and overpopulated by dreams and wants. It's a busy place in here, and I intended to have that show though in the image. I couldn't fit them all in so I went with the major ones.
Summary: A lifelong companion of the handsome, smart male persuasion. A bloody awesome Library and loads of classic paintings. To get better at painting and writing, to write and sell books. To breathe life into different worlds and have people love the result.
:bulletwhite: A loved one :bulletwhite:
A common dream for most I think, someone suited to oneself to share your life and world with. I mostly want someone to lean on and cuddle up next too, and not have him scared out of his wits at all my little quirks. The first is rather obvious as I'm literally on him, and the second hinted at by blowing at the words. I sometimes do strange things for very little reason, odd gestures, weird sounds.

:bulletwhite: A Library :bulletwhite:
With a capital L. I don't want a mere collection of a lot of books. I want dark mahogany bookshelves lined in a big, big room with heavy, draping curtains. And there should be lot and lots of chair for every occasion and whim, leather and cloth, soft and firm, the small cozy ones that hugs you and sofa like chairs enough for two. And a desk one could rule the world from. Or a profitable business centered around my art. (couldn't find room to fit it into this image though)

And the books will look old with that leather-bound look but be on every subject, both ancient and new, and they should be used and loved and not mere decoration. Ergo the clutter ;)

And whatever wall space isn't covered by bookshelves will be decorated with my favorite paintings, from other artists as well as myself. And the frames will be either luscious wood or goldish. Minimalism and modernism can go hang! It wouldn't be just a library, it would be a refuge you'd never want to leave.

:bulletwhite: Evolution of Skill :bulletwhite:

I will probably never be satisfied with my skills as an artist or a writer, and that is as it should be. To settle is to stagnate. And the ones I want to be able to emulate or even dear I hope surpass (megalomania much?) is Rembrandt and similar artist. But most of all Rembrandt for now. I wanted to hint to this by colours used and the glow on the papers like the glow of the canvas in one of his paintings. But the first isn't very obvious, and the second requires that you know about the painting and that I'm fond of Rembrandt. So I decided to drop some heavier hints by hanging Rembrandts and a James Jacques Joseph Tissot on my walls. I did miniature speed paints of them and they turned out rather cute I think :)

As for my writing skills, the proof is in the pudding, and several of the books in the clutters has a by Birgitte Gustavsen on them. I want them to sell like hot cakes.

The mini paintings are based on

Gentleman in a Railway Carriage By Jacques Joseph Tissot (1836-1902)
Portrait of Nicolaes Ruts by Rembrandt (1606-1669)
The Artist in His Studio by Rembrandt

:bulletwhite: My written world :bulletwhite:

My own brainchild that has been fermenting for years now is one of the things I hope to write several books about. It's fantasy in a Victorian like world, and hopefully with some humor and wit in it, as well as some deeper stuff. As well as just a weird act, me blowing at the paper and scattering the words, it can also be phrased as literally breathing life into my work.

A second more obvious display is something leaking out of a book and scuttling off into the dark. The faint lights in the distance isn't a chandeliers, it's eyes ;)

I want people to get engaged with my characters, to feel, when they get their hands on a new book about them, as if they are meeting old friends again. I want them to feel as I do whenever I pick up a Discworld book.

And if you look up, way up to the right corner, my characters there are surrounded by a rough heart shape. A bit soppy, especially considering only one of them is amongst my own favorites, but the general idea is that I want others to love them. To love them with that special kind of madness certain fandoms engender, and for them to draw lots and lots of pictures of them. And spend money on merchandise :) (gotta fund that library somehow)

:bulletwhite: Other :bulletwhite:
There's a lot of leaves about, cause i hope to have a nice but easily maintained conservatory with Turkish floor tiles, but even more importantly i want my home surrounded by tall, leafy trees. Looks a lot better than neighbors ;)

I'd also like a cat, but there was a space shortage so I slipped one in as a lion ornamenting the chair ;) Something a bit smaller for me though perhaps.

:bulletblue: My Own Opinions :bulletblue:

There has been quite a few problems that has slowed me down on this one. I actually started very early. But I had to redraw it two times, trying to unify the perspective. It's a lot lower than initially intended and as for entirely unified, the right word might be lol. I blame the Library on L space. (Discworld fans would understand that one)

And as a note on work method I fetched the outline for my face and hands from photographs of myself. So that is me, only with better skin and much narrower shoulders.
The time clinch also mean it is not as refined in all bits as it might have been, my greatest regrets being the lacking texture on the buildings in the distance, the spots of lost leaves I'm sure is scattered around in odd places, and the flatness of those in the front. And all the lovely monsters that got left out entirely :(

:bulletblue: The End :bulletblue:

My comment has turned into something of a short story, and so it's fitting that it should have a proper ending. I suspect my mind has a heavy bias towards narrative formatting :D

It's been a very long, long week. I've worked hard and probably for no other reason than a new showpiece. It's something at least ;) And now I will clean my room, i.e. remove a lot of clutter that is occupying my bed, and after a long, long rest, I will do nothing. At least for 20 hours. Well, maybe watch some British crime, do a bit of doodling. But nothing that counts as work :sleepy:

Thank you :D

I like having my own books myself. Library books have to me something sad about them. Usually old and outdated, there something...unfree about them. I'm a bit weird about books. And the fact that my own art book collection is bigger and better.

So wonderfully captivating and deeply personal work. I love the lengthy description, it just sucks me further into your perfect world. Very impressed! The letters flying off the paper into the books (or is it vice versa?) is my favourite part, very dreamlike. :)

Your hard work on this really shows. There are so many ideas that are wafting around this piece, but they all feel connected and flow well within it. Great color and composition

A lot of thought, effort, and care went into this and it really makes this piece pop
