Detail of the Dragon [link] -------- Gha! This took forever and a day. Youd think with more experience the learning curve would eventually make it a quicker process. Now either Im at the entirely wrong end of it, or it turns out to be linear connection instead, because it seems like Im just using more time than ever Granted this was a pretty big project for me, and Ive had to try and learn a few new tricks. For example like making those bubbles, which I found in a tut by
But still, Im just happy to see it off as done. Im sure there is room for improvements. Those foamy waves to the right in particular isnt up to snuff, however, I just cant look at it anymore. And its brother is in dire need of attention if Ill have any hope of having two entries, as I intend to.
This is done for the Summoning Contest over at I started with this, wanting to make a very dramatic and dynamic angle, though as we can see, that hasnt happened. Funny that, I usually start out wanting to make something with unusual angles and lively poses, and I keep getting these front facing things. But the dragon turned out quite nifty anyway. While as I was working on it though I got the idea of another, this one to be names Aggressor. Well, hopefully youll see it in the future.
But aside from the troubles, I do feel like I am moving forward. Very slowly. Oh, very agonizingly slowly. But forward nonetheless I think this one might just be my new favourite ---------- Constructive comments are always appreciated
This digital painting impressed me. It reminds me of chinese paintings (the waves and the dragon) but yet it stays very unique. What I like most about it is the "spiral-effect" of the dragon which adds a lot of depth. The fact that the summoner is centered makes this effect even stronger.
I've not seen much similar picutres on dA. As mentioned before it reminds me of traditional chinese paintings. But this painting has a dark and mystic feeling to it which makes it - in my eyes - outstanding.
Also I love the details which are perfect when it comes to the waves, the dragon, the water and the background. The only thing that I don't like that much is the expression of the summoner. In my eyes she looks bored (or something else I can't name) ... . This is really the only thing that disturbed me.
That dragon is wicked! If I had to say anything to make it better, it's that the man in center doesn't look like he's actually in the environment. The water is so beautiful though and everything is just so well done and lovingly made
Girl actually She was redrawn on a different paper and I’ve always suspected she and the dragon wasn’t quite on the same level. But thank you for the critique and the compliments
