Gha! This took forever and a day.
You’d think with more experience the learning curve would eventually make it a quicker process. Now either I’m at the entirely wrong end of it, or it turns out to be linear connection instead, because it seems like I’m just using more time than ever
Granted this was a pretty big project for me, and I’ve had to try and learn a few new tricks. For example like making those bubbles, which I found in a tut by :icondianae:

But still, I’m just happy to see it off as done. I’m sure there is room for improvements. Those foamy waves to the right in particular isn’t up to snuff, however, I just can’t look at it anymore. And it’s brother is in dire need of attention if I’ll have any hope of having two entries, as I intend to.

This is done for the Summoning Contest over at :iconsweet-taboos:
I started with this, wanting to make a very dramatic and dynamic angle, though as we can see, that hasn’t happened. Funny that, I usually start out wanting to make something with unusual angles and lively poses, and I keep getting these front facing things.
But the dragon turned out quite nifty anyway. While as I was working on it though I got the idea of another, this one to be names Aggressor. Well, hopefully you’ll see it in the future.

But aside from the troubles, I do feel like I am moving forward. Very slowly. Oh, very agonizingly slowly. But forward nonetheless ;) I think this one might just be my new favourite :deviation:

This digital painting impressed me.
It reminds me of chinese paintings (the waves and the dragon) but yet it stays very unique. What I like most about it is the "spiral-effect" of the dragon which adds a lot of depth. The fact that the summoner is centered makes this effect even stronger.

I've not seen much similar picutres on dA. As mentioned before it reminds me of traditional chinese paintings. But this painting has a dark and mystic feeling to it which makes it - in my eyes - outstanding.

Also I love the details which are perfect when it comes to the waves, the dragon, the water and the background. The only thing that I don't like that much is the expression of the summoner. In my eyes she looks bored (or something else I can't name) ... . This is really the only thing that disturbed me.

Absolutely lovely painting!

The few but colourful highlights really make this picture, I think. There's so much detail in this, it adds a lot to the picture, as well. I'd almost say the background and the dragon seem just a small bit blended together, but it doesn't take much away from the drawing. Awesome job!! :)

Thank you :D I'm working hard on improving, so it's good to hear I'm not just deluding myself ;) I'm a bit concerned about the size of it though, you have to scroll down to take it all in, but if I make it any smaller the girls face will disappear. It catches me coming and going really. *Sigh* I'll just hope it won't count against me.

Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it, and your others :D
The Dragon is bit merged with the background I guess. I wanted it to be dark picture, but I have limited experience with that, so it's trial and error really, but I’m glad it is not too much of a disturbance. And thank you for adding it to your favourite list :)
